2006/2007 Caption Competition Pre-Comp Odds

Gino won last year's competition with relative ease leading for the best part of 20 weeks but at catastrophic run of form that coincided with a shift in allegiance to Vital threatened to undermine his challenge. Gino is guaranteed to enter every week which should see him in with a great shout of a top five finish but his inability to sustain any weekly wins last season and the poor form coming in to this year means that 8/1 is a fair price.

Blockheads has been installed at the 2/1 favourite following an impressive campaign last year. Blocky finished third in a prize winning position but had a remarkable season. He recorded more weekly wins than any other competitor and was a regular double pointer. However his attendance record was his weak point and regular no shows meant that a serious challenge was never possible.

Stevelmu09 had much a similar problem as his attendance record meant he missed out on any prizes. Steve was a prolific scorer last season and an improved attendance record this year will see him as a potent challenger and his 3/1 price reflects this.

Masta_2009 finished second last year with consistent scoring up until the last few weeks of the season where he failed to capitalise on an opportunity to nick the title of Gino. However his absence from the first couple of rounds may affect his winning chance so his price has been pushed out to a competitive 5/1.

The bookmakers are really quite unsure on what price to give Bagara's_Whistle. Last time he joined the competition midway through the season and racked up an impressive top 20 finish. He scored highly regularly and promised to be an ever present this term. However, he has not been seen for a long time and could be another no shower. With such uncertainty Bagara has been given a price of 10/1.

There are two rank outsiders for this year's competition. Markthemiller is priced at 100/1 for this and is not expected to challenge a top ten spot. Mark finished sixth last season and had been in the top two for such a long time. His inability to perform in the double rounds cost him though and low confidence plagued his campaign. He continues to enter every week, which is to his credit but in all honesty we can't see him getting any higher than midtable mediocrity.

UFO is also a rank outsider priced at 80/1. These high odds have been decided on purely because she is a woman and after extensive thinking time in our office we were unable to think of a funny woman ever.
