Russell's refereeing career started in 1984 in Mansfield he reached the National List of assistant Referees in 1998.
Just one season later he was promoted to the SG of assistant referees, reaching the National List of referees in 2004.
Russell reffered the FL Play Off semi final in 2007, and was 4th Official at the League 2 Play Off Final at Wembley.
This will be Russell's second game involving the Millers this season, he took charge of the game at Blundell Park where Grimsby Town inflicted the Millers first league defeat of 2009 running out 3-0 winners.
In 18 games this season Russell has issued 40 yellow and 2 red cards.
