Takeover or Takeaway? - Grists Takeover View

Since the change of ownership the shop’s had a paint job, the menu’s been revamped and business now looks brisk.

This set me to thinking about our much-loved Mecca of entertainment, our Millmoor and our new owner Neil Freeman.

I can just see Neil going into the revamped take-away.

Number 26 please.

Mr Chang: - “Herro, wad you want?”

Neil Freeman: - “erm, I’ll have number 26, the five year manager contract”

“and erm, give me a 44, the new stand, no, no I’ve changed my mind give me a 32, the 18000 seater stadium”

Mr Chang: - “OK you wan’ side order?”

Neil Freeman: - “Aye throw me in some of number 11, the five assorted players and a bag of number 31, the improved wage structure”

Mr Chang: - “Okay doakey, anything else?”

Neil Freeman: - “No that’s fine, I’ve got plenty on my plate at the moment”

So our new champion leaves with his Chinese meal and gorges himself, but as we know with Chinese meals you feel empty again about half an hour after eating one.

In my view that’s what it’s really like. For years we’ve been starved by the Booth regime and like Oliver Twist we had the audacity to ask for more. Now were the starving man let loose in the take-away. Personally, I’m hoping to eat my way through the full menu of the “Under New Ownership” Millmoor but I hope indigestion doesn’t follow in the form of an Anton Johnson style collapse of everything.

But that’s one thing we do have now, hope, and lots of it !!!
