As ground preparations continue at the Guest and Chrimes site, builders GMI Construction and project managers Gleeds have agreed a completion date.
Chairman Tony Stewart told the Advertiser: “July 11 has been agreed as the completion date by Gleeds and GMI, so everything is to schedule.
“GMI are six weeks ahead on the civic offices next to the stadium. These guys know about deadlines and have a good record for hitting them and probably beating them. The steelwork will start going up in September/October and we're told that by Christmas we will see the superstructure appear.”
Stewart added that discussions about extra retail and facilities to bring in further revenue are ongoing: “Discussions are still going on and it is being handled with due care and attention. Hopefully we will know before Christmas what action we need to take with regard to building.
“This is the most incredible thing that has happened to Rotherham football for yonks and we are making it happen. Are we taking full advantage of the opportunity? Yes. Are we putting our money where our mouth is? Yes. Are we fully committed? Yes.
“Something like this only hits Rotherham every 100 years. It is as glorious as that.”
