A hat-trick from striker Jamie Proctor and Keiffer Moore adding another gave the Millers an impressive result over neighbours Dingles.
However Warney still had a niggle; “I’m happy to a certain extent, I’m not happy on certain things. It’s nice to score four goals at home and win. It’s nice for Procs to score a hat-trick, it’s nice when your strikers are scoring."
“Generally speaking I was pretty pleased. It was a bit of a lacklustre affair from both teams in the first half, it picked up in the second half as it was a bit end-to-end. I think it could have been an eight-four. There were a load of attempts on goal and they had the chance to score. Four-nil might flatter us a little bit but I’m pleased with a lot of performances." Warne added.
“Frecks came off at half-time for Vaulks. I thought Vaulks was outstanding and we sent Frecks home at half-time because he was ill. I thought Will had a real positive effect on the game. When Kieffer went on he had a positive effect on the game. It was difficult with the way they play to get Bally on the ball today so I was just pleased with a lot of performances, especially going forward when we were a threat.”
“I just think everyone’s had a massive part to play in pre-season,” he continued. “They all deserved to go on the pitch today. Even if they got ten, 15 or 20 minutes. Everyone will be off tomorrow then we’ll regroup on Monday."
“I’m happy to get through pre-season and the only player I’ve got missing is Joe Mattock who’s a bit sore and Alex Bray will join in on training on Monday. As it stands I’ve got the full squad to pick from which is not easy."
"They all look good. Unfortunately for Jerry Yates, he’s a bit like me, that he can play in other positions. He’s going to have to fight and scrap with everybody else. Striker-wise they’ve all got a reason why they should start. Kieffer’s brought a different edge to the team. The thing for us when we make substitutions it’s doesn’t weaken the team."
“There were some really good performances, especially going forward. At times we were a bit sloppy getting the ball out of dangerous areas at the back so that’s something we’ll have to address.”
Warne added that he may not be done in the transfer market as yet; “I might need one more body, but like I’ve always said, only if it really strengthens us, I’m not going to bring a body in for the sake of it. But If I can add another quality player I will.”
