Bright things were expected of the youngster who put in some excellent displays during that season, but struggled with fitness after the pre-season and went on loan to Shrewsbury for the majority of the season until being released by former boss Ronnie Moore.
However, 26 year old David still looks back on his hometown club fondly, speaking to Morcambe local rag The Visitor said; "I owe Rotherham and manager Ronnie Moore a lot because they started my career. I loved playing there, it was my home town team and a club I always followed."
"We won two promotions in two seasons when I was there before I was released. It was a bit of a shock at the time but as I have got older I have learned that these things happen in football and I have nothing but thanks for everyone there."
Artell's went on to speak about his father who still works at the club on matchdays; "It will be a bit strange for him on Saturday because it is the first time I have played there since leaving but I am looking forward to it."
"I seem to be coming up against former clubs every couple of weeks but it doesn't really matter who we play. I just hope we maintain the good run we are on." he added
