Oliver will be looking to copy his Dad and making it as a pro footballer, after joining the Millers at under 15 level, he has just being offered a contract by new manager Andy Scott.

“I joined the club at U15s level. I had a trial for a week then signed and I made the first team squad at the start of my second-year scholarship. That contract has obviously come to an end and now I’ve been offered my pro contract." he told the Advertiser.

“It’s a milestone but the second year is the biggest because if I get that then I think I will have done well.”

“Growing up, I always went to Rotherham games, including the time they were in the Championship. I like Andy Monkhouse and all the players from that era but as for my alltime favourite, I’d obviously have to give that to my dad.”

Banks had spent the last few games on the bench without getting on, but was quick to take his chance when came on for the last 23 minutes on Saturday.

“I was nervous going on and when the chance came I thought I’d better take it because I won’t get a better one. I tucked it away and I didn’t know what to do after I scored. I just ran like a headless chicken and hoped for the best!"

“My priority at the start of the season was to play in the first team. My second was to score a goal. Both have happened so I’ve got to be happy. My priority now is to get fit and come back for pre-season better than I am now.”

Gaffer Andy Scott said: “We’ve just offered Ollie a pro deal and he’s still got a lot to learn but we were down on numbers and it was the last game of the season so there was no better time to chuck him on and to see whether he is ready. It was a dream debut and I’m delighted for him. If he works hard in the close season he will give himself a chance."
