“We are getting closer with a number of people, A lot of players are still on holiday and I don’t think anything has really hotted up in the market. Hopefully in the next week or so we can get at least one in.” Barker told the Star
“It is still early. In an ideal world, you want to get everyone over the line by the middle of May and clock off for a couple of weeks, go on holiday knowing it’s all done. But, realistically, that is never going to be the case. Have a look, I haven’t seen that many people sign for clubs. That is for a multitude of reasons: players’ contracts haven’t even expired, for a start, and the play-offs have only just finished. That cascades on to other clubs.”
Meanwhile, Barker was asked about the return of midfielder Ben Pringle to the club; “As far as I know, nothing has developed. He is someone we are all a big fan of. I don’t know him, but I know how highly people think of him, and I have played against him and know how good he is."
“He is someone who we all think about, but nothing has moved on that.” he added.
