Supporters turned up at 9am to help clear snow and with temperatures rising slightly the club will cover the surface ahead of a pitch inspection tomorrow.
"We've managed to clear a good area of pitch and we feel a lot more confident that we are actually going to pull this off," said Douglas to Millersplayer this lunchtime.
"We'll probably get the bulk of it done today if not all and with the temperatures as they are showing then we'll finish it off tomorrow and get the covers on - if the temperatures stay as it's forecast then there shouldn't be any problems and the pitch should be playable."
However he added that more bodies will be useful on Friday to help shift snow from the surrounding areas in the stadium too.
"The biggest task then is making sure the stadium is in the state in needs to be in, which the General Manager at Don Valley will get his men working on.
"People don't have to think they can give us a full day. If they can just come down for an hour or two tomorrow that will be fantastic, every little bit will help."
