Cann produced a man of the match performance from the MillersMAD users in pulling some good saves off not only during the match but in saving Darlingtons first 2 penalty kicks.
Speaking to the 'Tiser, Mark Robbos heaps praise on the youngster; "He is a good goalkeeper and shot stopper. What he needs to improve on is his decision-making in games and he's starting to do that."
"For a goalkeeper it's about concentration and if you can keep it until the final whistle then you have a chance, but as soon as you switch off for a second you are dead. You're the last line of defence. Lack of concentration is what Steven has been guilty of in the reserves. I've been looking for an improvement in that area and and we're starting to see that."
"Sometimes understudy keepers need to get a game in the first team to give them the belief they are going to be given the opportunity and, if they do, that they can rise to it."
Meanwhile Cann admitted that he got a bit of luck but listened to what the gaffer had to say; "Mark Robins told me to pick which side I was going to dive early and stick to it. There's a bit of luck in it and fortunately for me I guessed the right way."
"It was a great night. I took my chance with both hands. If David Stockdale is recalled this weekend then I'll have to go away and keep working with our goalkeeping coach Simon Tracey and Andy Warrington, who have both been a great help to me since I've been here."
"I appreciate what the manager is saying about my decision making and I'm really aware now of the need to keep my concentration. I want to improve and I'm happy here. My contract is up at the end of the season and we'll have to wait and see what happens." he added.
