The 29 year-old explains the reasons behind signing a two year contract with Rotherham after his decision to leave Aberdeen, speaking to the clubs official website.
"My agent got in touch with Steve Evans and things progressed well from there. There was interest from other clubs, but what impressed me the most was the facilities at Rotherham, and the enthusiasm of the manager. It just seemed like a very positive place to be playing football at the moment.
"What affected the decision were the plans for the future at Rotherham. We expect to be in the Championship in two years and being able to help them reach those goals was a challenge, and the reason I signed for the club."
The Icelandic International, who has won 18 caps for his country added: "I played recently against Spain and France as a centre-half, but I've played as a midfielder all my life really."
