Coleman talks contracts!

Speaking to Radio Sheffield's Football Heaven tonight, Denis continued by turning to the manager and then the playing side of things.

Asked about Knilly's contract and the job he's doing, he explained: "We offered Alan a two year contract two weeks before the Milton Keynes game and made that decision on the basis that, if we stayed up as we did do, he would have never known if we'd have gone down if he would have got the boot, so we made the decision he was the man for the job and I think he's proved to everybody that's the right decision."

On the player front, Will Hoskins and Lee Williamson have been linked with moves away in the January transfer window, but Coleman refuses to comment on any real speculation at the moment and hopes both will pen new deals at Millmoor.

"Will has a contract until the end of the season" he said. "As long as we offer him improved terms then he'll remain a Rotherham player. It was always well documented that when we sat down with Will he was the first player to agree a new contract and Alan said 'go out there and prove you're worth a longer contract, if you do that then at Christmas we'll rip it up and give you a new one'. That's the situation at the moment."

Seth then asked Denis about the possibility of cashing in on Hoskins, who has hit 11 goals so far this season: "You have to weigh everything up, but i'd like to think Will could have at least another season after this with us and prove he can do it, who knows what his worth will become. I know the manager believes he can play at the very top and if he leaves Rotherham, surely it must be at the right time for us and him. It's no good Will leaving us and sitting in someone's reserves and not playing, the time to go for him is when someone at the top is ready for him.

"People are talking about Freddie Eastwood going for £2m etc, In my opinion Will's as good as him and all the other young lads who've been branded about but he's only proved it this season so who knows, but me personally I think he can play right at the very top."

The interview concluded with the situation with Lee Williamson, as Denis explains: "The situation with Willo is that he's out of contract at the end of the season, we held off a few bits of interest on deadline day, one in particular from Luton, there were and are still alot of clubs interested. His agent came with me to the Crewe game and I was talking to him quite alot.

The ideal scenario is he signs on another year but we'll have to wait and see on that one. Nothing will happen until the transfer window and the last game against Crewe we had 34 scouts there. They have a couple of lads as well as us, we've got a few people scouts will be taking notice of like our 'keeper, he's been brilliant this season Cutler and had come in for a lot of stick last season but he's proved everyone wrong and is as good as anyone in this division."
