Coughlan - Football League should help Millers

The 33-year-old left Don Valley Stadium on Wednesday to join League Two rivals Shrewsbury Town and speaking after his move to Shropshire, Coughlan insists that the authorities should be helping the Millers.

"The circumstances surrounding Rotherham are disappointing but the most disappointing part is what the Football League and the authorities are trying to do to the club," Coughlan told Shrewsbury's official club website.

"The new chairman has come in and he's doing wonders there but he seems to be swimming against the tide, people should be helping and not hindering the football club.

Coughlan, who spent just one season with Mark Robins' men, admits that the future is unclear for his former club. "I don't know what's going to happen to them over the next couple of weeks but it's worrying times and a case of watch this space," Coughlan added.

Meanwhile, the former Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth defender is looking forward to his new start at the Prostar Stadium. "I like winning, whether that is in training or in games. It's the way I've been brought up and I'm hoping to be successful here."
