Cresswell captained the Millers in his first season after being brought in by Ronnie Moore last summer and the Swinton born defender will continue to lead the side.
He featured in yesterdays 3-1 loss to Huddersfield, when a second half goal from Chris Holroyd was cancelled out by a brace from Donal McDermott and a third from Jordan Rhodes for the visitors in what proved to be another useful workout.
"It was a good game", said Scott to the clubs official website. "We only had a few subs as we were carrying minor knocks and for 75 minutes we were outstanding.
"I am delighted for Chris, he has worked ever so hard- the front three linked up well and the three behind them have good energy which is certainly promising."
