"It was a great feeling." Ryan told the Advertiser today. "I had a few nerves before the game leading the team out but after that I just took it in my stride. As for the goal, as soon as the ball came over from Nicky Law there was only one place it was going and that was in the back of the net. I know he's a quality player and I just gambled and ran to the back post and got my head to it. It was a perfect ball in."
After previously spending a spell on loan with the Millers, Ryan was always happy to come back to the club he supports; "I always thought I'd be back here at some stage and I'm just happy it's come so soon. I used to go to Millmoor every week as a young lad and it's just great to be playing for Rotherham now. It's just like being back at home."
"The surroundings are so familiar. The club is on my doorstep and I know everything about it. Players like Chris Swailes and Martin McIntosh were heroes of mine and Guy Branston as well. I used to watch them and think, I want to be him, and funnily enough I am at the minute!" he added.
