With the development facility plans at the Outokumpu site at Brinsworth all in place, the club are keen to invest in bringing through their home grown lads, like current squad players Mitch Rose, Danny Rowe and Nicky Walker.
Evans told the Advertiser today: “We have made some changes at that level to improve things and we will aspire, whether it be next year or three or four years' time, to have young lads coming through to the first team because we need that.
“I would like to see four or five Rotherham boys in the first team but they have to be good enough, that's the overriding thing. We've set on a new head of youth. It's early days but he's gone about his business really dilligently and we're a complete step up on last year.”
