Evans has a rich history in knock out football having guided former club Crawley on two lengthy FA Cup runs, one of which ended in the fifth round at Manchester United while they were still a non-league outfit.
He has carried that on in his first two years at the Millers, as they knocked out two higher-placed clubs in the FA Cup last term while also dumping local rivals Sheffield Wednesday out of the Capital One Cup this season.
"We have a successful track record in cup football which tells you we can get people up for one-off occasions," Evans said.
"It is knock-out football and that's why to a degree it's irrelevant who you play."
Despite guiding both Boston and Crawley up the leagues over his career he has never managed in the play-offs, but is looking forward to the challenge.
"I have never managed in the play-offs, I have a track record that says I usually win automatic promotion and go on my holidays," he added.
"We are in them and you have to treat them as an extension to the season. But it's a mini-league, you have three games to win your club promotion and we have worked really, really hard to make sure we are fresh and ready.
"If we are ready and hungry and have a proper go and we're just not good enough on the day then at least we have given them every chance."
