32 year old Sharps re-joined the Millers last summer but found himself suddenly out of favour and spent most of the second half of the season on loan at Burton Albion.
After both parties came to a release agreement yesterday, boss Steve evans told the clubs official site; “I would like to thank Ian for the effort and commitment he has given this club, and him and his young family will always be welcome as my guest at the New York Stadium.”
Meanwhile Evans is still looking to add to his squad as they return to pre-season training.
“We’re still one or two away from where we’d like to be. We’re trying our best, but we’re not going to overpay for any player, either in terms of transfer fee or wages." he told the SY Times
“We’re doing everything within a structure here, and dealing with things in a professional manner. I have been in talks with a couple of players from the Far East, and those talks will continue towards the end of the week.
“The chairman, Tony Stewart, has been excellent throughout this, and we have gone about our business in a professional and confidential manner.
“As I say, I am hopeful or bringing some more faces in, but good players always have plenty of options and it’s important to never forget that.”
