The wide man made his comeback in the win over Plymouth last weekend and completed a full 90 minutes in the midweek defeat to their Devon neighbours Torquay.
“I was told I was going to get an hour and in the second half the gaffer was asking how I was. I said I was alright but that was just enthusiasm. I was knackered after about an hour", he told todays 'Tiser.
"In the end I was just glad to get through 90 minutes because I have waited a long time to do that and I've done it injury free. The only real problem is tiredness. It’s a case of making up for lost time and trying to play as much football as I possibly can. Perhaps I played 20 minutes too long on Tuesday but I'm just glad I'm going to be fit for this weekend.”
Evo added: “If we can win at Oxford then it takes the gap down to two points and puts pressure on them, I think they have a fair few big games in the run-in against top sides, so you never what is going to happen. Three points would have been nice on Tuesday but we can't get too down about it because we played well. We've got to take that tempo into the weekend and hopefully get a bit of the rub of the green.
“Oxford didn't have a particularly good result at Bradford last week so their supporters will be anxious they do well tomorrow. That can go against you in that it can put a lot of pressure on you when expectations are high so hopefully we can go there and play on that.”
Boss Andy Scott added: "It has been frustrating seeing him running up and down the training pitch, not being able to join in. But we did it the right way and credit to Gareth for having the match fitness and medical staff for getting him right."
