However, he is now looking to get some time in the team and help to revive the club s flagging play-off charge.
Holmes today speaks to todays Advertiser about his time at Millmoor and sat on the bench.
"It's up to me to force my way back into the team. It's disappointing because I started the season quite well and then I had a toe injury. But it's not about me. It's about what the team does as a whole. Football now has changed. It's a squad thing and you've got to be ready when the gaffer calls on you."
"I think being out of the team did force me to dig in and pull out that extra few per cent, You have to take a look at yourself and think why you're not in the team but if the team is winning then why would anyone change it?"
"We've been on a bit of a bad run so now's the chance for me and some of the other lads to get our places back."
"I missed the Christmas period with my hamstring problem but these things happen. You've just got to push it to one side and keep going and I'm experienced enough to know that because I've had many a season like this."
"Football is all about ups and downs. You've got to take the highs as well as the lows and dig in when you're not playing and give as much as you can to the team in other ways."
