As new manager Andy Scott waits this week on contract decisions and starts his hunt for at least six new players, Cresswell spoke to the Star, giving his thoughts on the months ahead and what went wrong last time out.
"Chesterfield have done well but who is to say that we can't do well? For half of the season we were more than a match for them", said Ryan.
"For one reason or another we just didn't progress and push on. We have a new stadium to look forward to and we want to be in the next league above when we move into that stadium.
"The lads who are still here have had a bit of a boost. He (Andy Scott) makes training enjoyable, brings professionalism and generally a new set-up through the club. That's not to say that old regime was a wrong one, it's just a fresh idea from top to bottom. Hopefully it will work."
Cresswell continued: "It will be a tough pre-season. You never expect to have an easy day for a month so I'll look forward to that.
"We want to get promotion. However we do it, as long as promotion happens that is all that matters."
