Fundraising Update - 2nd March
Asked if it was enough with the time running out. "The Save the Millers campaign we're looking at £250-£300k from that which in itself will be part of a larger rescue package if you like, we're looking for other sums from other areas and hopefully some other investors."
Paul Walker then asked if the Millers needed bang on £1m... "No, we've said a Million, it might be a little bit less than that but its a good round figure to aim for. But its certainly in that region."
The club this week had talks with some potential investors and there was also the meeting on Tuesday night with the group of businesspeople from Rotherham wanting to save the Millers.
"We have had talks, quite positive and we're moving things along. Obviously nothings concrete as yet but we are having more talks with potential investors next week so we're quite hopefull there."
"Theres a meeting with the players next week regarding deferrment and we think that there will be something to announce early next week."
"As time goes on, I'm getting more and more encouraged, however not complacent as we still do have a long way to go. But I urge people to keep running hte events and people to go to them and keep givin their money in any way they can."
Interviewer Paul Walker then threw a dodgy question in by asking, if Veal felt that the directors thought they deserve re-election considering the mess the club is in.
"People will have to make their own mind up on how they feel we've performed. We came into the club 14 months ago with the club losing a huge amounts of money, it's not losing quite as much money now and in the meantime we've have done quite a lot to develop the club for the future."
"Also we've done it totally openly and honestly and we feel with integrity. Where as you get people saying that they dont think we're telling them everything. We feel that we have been as open with the fans as we possibly could."
