After nearly getting his head on Kevin Ellison's direct scoring corner last week at Crewe, boss Ronnie Moore has told Tom Pope that he would have tried to claim the goal as his own.

"If that had been me, I would have just run off and celebrated like I'd scored," said Ronnie, a former goal poacher himself. You've got to be hungry for goals and if it means you pinch one when it's not yours, you pinch it."

"If Popey had just run away with his arm up, no-one would have known any better. Kevin's corner missed him only by inches." Ronnie added.
