Speaking to today's Advertiser, Holmes looked ahead and hoped to get a chance; "There's a lot of games coming up. Maybe I'll be involved or maybe I won't but Rotherham pay my wages and they're priority when they come calling."
"There were another four of our players sat in the stand at Bury and others on the bench who are unhappy about not playing but there's only 11 who can start and the lads have been playing well."
"Football is about opportunities and it's up and down at times. It's a bit of a kick in the teeth when you're not playing but that's part and parcel of the game. It's a dog eat dog world. You just try to play your best and hope you get in the team." he added.
27 year old Holmes admits that he needs to be playing, and if he can't get a game with the Millers he may have to look elsewhere when his contract expires at the end of this season; "At my age I need to be playing, There's no point in being a footballer and just sat in the stand or on the bench."
"It's hard when you're not playing games and playing at first-team pace. The reserves league isn't the greatest league. You play only once every two weeks. "I needed to get some games in and that's what I've done at York and I've enjoyed it there and it's gone well. Hopefully it might open something up for me here at Rotherham but they did well against on Tuesday and it's hard getting in."
"Hopefully the gaffer will think I've done well and give me a chance. "I'm here until he says so, whether that is to go away on loan again or whatever." he added
