Speaking to todays Advertiser, Robins is adament that Newsham will improve while he gets time on the pitch. "He stayed on the field at Brentford because he was a major threat," said Robins. He will be a really good player for this football club but we need to be patient with him." he said
"He's not afraid to get in there and anticipate in the penalty area and once he gets a couple of goals he will flourish and fly from there."
Looking back at Fridays draw at Brentford, and Newshams chance to give the Millers a late winner, Robbo said; "I'm disappointed with the chance he got in the second half at Brentford because he did everything right in reading the flick from Chris O'Grady. The goalkeeper saved with his legs but I would have liked to have seen Marc lift it over the keeper and into the net."
Marc himself admitted he should have scored; "I was gutted I didn't do better, I would back myself to score there any day but the keeper pulled off a save. If I'd have scored there it would have been three points. I thought my shot in the first half was going in all the way and when it hit the post I just thought it wasn't going to be my day."
Fans have had concerns over Newshams physique, standing at just 10 stone, Marc admits that he needs to bulk up a bit; "I have been trying to beef up for years now. I go to the gym in my own time and do weights at the club. I am trying to get bigger and I've still got time to develop physically."
"I prefer to play off Chris O'Grady and Derek Holmes and make little runs off them. That's more my game than trying to pin people. If the ball does come in to me I just try to get my body there and make myself a nuisance."
"Six draws from our first 11 games is solid but we need to start turning draws into wins. It's all about consistency in this division. If you string two or three wins or four wins together then teams start looking at you and you can really shoot up the table. We are capable of doing that with the players we have here."
He then went onto speak about the Millmoor crowd, "It's been said before, but the crowd at Millmoor can be our 12th man. When they're on our side they're brilliant. If we can string a few wins together then we'll have more chance of filling the place and making it a fortress."
