Gilchrist, dislocated his shoulder in the 2-0 Carling Cup defeat to Leeds in midweek and will play no further part for several months joining Scott Minto (achilles) and long term victim Andy Monkhouse (knee) on the treatment table.
Colin Murdock will make his first start since August 27th in central defence and boss Mick Harford will have to decide whether to keep mistake-prone Neil Cutler in between the sticks or bring back Gary Montgomery after Cutler's poor showing recently. Montgomery had started the season as number one, but was dropped after a clanger handed Walsall a win on the opening day and has not featured since.
The Millers is team is at present expected to be otherwise unchanged.

Meanwhile, Southend United travel to Millmoor in a rich vein of form and after a cracking start to the season, they lie third in the table four points above the Millers. They are boosted by news that Carl Pettifer has recovered from a shoulder injury and is back in contention, as is Mitchell Cole who limped off in last week's victory over Tranmere with an ankle injury.
The Shrimpers will be without Mark Gower after the former Tottenham man saw a specialist about a troublesome back injury and will not be fit to make the journey north. Jamal Campbell-Ryce is still ineligible to play for Southend but this is the last weekend he will have to sit out before he can begin his Southend United career following a loan move from Rotherham.
