However Hudson knows, along with the fans, the run of one win in four consecutive home gmes last month has blown their chances.
"Looking back, those two home games could come back to haunt us. We conceded late against Bury and had loads of chances against Accrington. Those four points dropped could have been so useful to us in the run-in."
Talking to the Advertiser, he continued:: "We've given ourselves a great chance and if we can keep winning then we can see where we are. You never say never.
"It's frustrating with the points deduction thing but we've got to get on with it. I've had two years at Rotherham so I appreciate that. The gaffer wants us to push on and finish strongly, and why not? We've Shrewsbury, Bradford and Exeter to play and if we can beat them then who knows?
"I scored nine last season and it should have been ten but I missed a sitter in the last match at Mansfield. I was pleased with my goal last week (in the win over Notts County). The manager gave us a break for three games and I felt refreshed.
"As I've said before, I'm happy here. If I sign a new contract and stay then hopefully I can help us have another good push at promotion."
