He said: “It was just an embarrassment and I felt sorry for the fans. They weren't happy and I could see why because they paid hard earned cash to go and watch that awful performance.
“From the first minute we weren't on our game and it just wasn't two or three of us, it was eight or nine of us and when that happens you're not going to do well. Southend set themselves up well but when we went 2-0 down our heads dropped.“
He continues: "On a personal level it was the worst game I've played in a long time so I need to pick myself up and hopefully I'll be in the team. If I'm not then I can't be disappointed because I haven't been good enough.
“Whatever happens we owe everyone associated with Rotherham United a good result tomorrow (at Aldershot)."
