After the heartbreak of losing the play-off final on Sunday, boss Ronnie Moore now has the task of delivering more bad news to some players.
With 12 players out of contract, Moore is about to name his retained list and who no longer has a future with the Millers.
"I thanked all the players for their efforts this season and after what they've had to put up with in various respects but time doesn't stand still, you've got to move on," Moore told the Star
"What happened on Sunday when you're so close to achieving your goal, is soul destroying, but we can't spend the rest of the summer feeling sorry for ourselves.P layers are out of contract and there will certainly be those who are going. Perhaps it is time to build a new team," he added.
"I know who is going, it is just a matter of telling them, There are 12 of them whose contracts are up and not all of them will be here come pre-season training, I need to cut the size of the squad anyway. We've got 24 pro's, it's too many. I'm looking for around 18, 19 and quality rather than quantity."
"But not going up to League One does alter things a bit. Some of those we were going for, we won't be going for now."
Meanwhile, he confirmed that he's not had any enquires about 30 goal striker Adam Le Fondre, and hopes he wont; "I won't be upset if the phone doesn't ring about Alf." Moore said.
