I'm here to play football - Hoskins speaks out

In a honest interview with Football Heaven, Will gave some no nonsence answers to the questions put to him.

Asked why it took so long for him to fulfill his potential. "I don't know, I was a young lad growing up. Things got on top of me, loads of things, personal things and things that people don't know about. But I'm here now!! and I've got my head right and I'm here to play football and thats what I'm going to do."

Speaking about the hype after his 2 goal debut away at Wigan, "I was 17 years old and some people say i got too bigheaded and that. But I had injuries my back is still not right to this day now."

"I'm a thinking person, I probably thought too much, managers came and went, some didnt like me and its hard for a young lad to get into the swing of things. Now I'm here I want to forget about that and just play me football."

Asked if the Wigan debut did go to his head, "It was hard, but I think it was more pressure on me, because I was doing the same stuff that young lads would do, but there was more made of it if I was caught doing it and stuff like that."

"Yes I was probably a jack the lad, but I'm not a lad no more, I'm growing up - I'm 20. I could have not got my head together and I could'nt be here now - But I have."

"People have stuck with me and its showing. I'm sort of one of those people that you need to put your arm around and say come onyou can do it, as I say I'm a thinking person and I'm my own worst enemy at times. I get myself down and I think over the last 2 seasons lots of things have. But now I'm fresh, got my head stright and got a manager who (hopefully) likes me and I just want to keep playing, I want to do my job."

Will wouldnt expand on the things that hindered his career so far, but said; "It's a load of things, the injury was one, that got me down. I just wanted to be playing but I was'nt. Sometimes I was in the squad then back in the youth team. But it was a whole lot of things."

"People used to say 'You think too much, you need to just go in there with everything out of your head' but I didnt. To this day I think what can I change, but I'm not going to live in the past, I'm going to live for today and the future."

Hoskins then sang manager Alan Knill's praises; "He has a lot of faith in me. I had some many things in my head I got it into my head where I needed to be big and strong and try to hold it up, at that age I was'nt there to compete. I went to the gym and bulked myself up and got too heavy, too top heavy and it showed on the pitch, plus it affected the back."

"Now I've got my head straight I'm thinking well no I'm not that sort of player although I can do it now. But get over the top and be a danger. It helps up as in times the lads know they can knock it long for me and I can get after it and get back to what i used to be."
