The winger signed until the end of the season yesterday and with the paperwork passed by the Football League this afternoon, Wood spoke about his move back North.
"The main thing is that I'll hopefully be playing games. I want to score goals and carry on assisting aswell", Sam said.
"I knew there were talks between the clubs but I didn't worry about it because that's what I've got an agent for. It's always nice to feel wanted and to come to a club that has open arms.
"I'm not coming to a club where I don't know anyone and so I think it was the right choice for me. I've always been a London boy so moving up North is something totally different for me and so to commit to something more permanent might have been the wrong decision. Now, I've got until the end of the season to get to grips with it and, if it doesn't work out, I can always go back. However if it does work out then there may be a chance of extending.
"My contract is up with Brentford at the end of the season so it's not likely that I'll be offered anything there and if I do really well here and also if we get promotion they might want to keep me for next season."
Wood added: "I want to repay Andy Scott because he's given me another chance to play games at pro level because I don't think at Brentford I'd have got as many games."
