Breckin told the 'Tiser, "It's nice for supporters to sit in the pub and talk about the old times, but this is now. This is a new dawn and it's time to look forward. It's about getting in what I'd call 'the Dirty Dozen'—players who can do a job at this level. The chairman, Denis Coleman, has promised his support."
"We need a team equipped to do a job in this league. There are some good youngsters here but it's about finding the right mixture between youth and experience. We need a bit of luck with new signings but we know who we want. It's just a matter of getting them in."
"You need the right characters. Faces might change, but ability doesn't. If someone doesn't want to play for the club then let them go. Whoever comes in will be properly vetted. They'll WANT to play for this club."
Breck is looking forward to working with Mark Robins, the striker that he helped bring into the club back in 2000; "Mark deserves his chance and he has a hell of a chance of doing well, To my mind he's the ideal man. He's worked at the grass roots with the kids at the club and he knows how the club works. He's not coming into the job blindfolded. He's ready. He's got his coaching badges, he's been there and done it and he's very enthusiastic."
"Mark has impressed me with his manner and the way he carries himself. When he pulls a player up, he doesn't need to shout or raise his voice. He gets his point over well. You don't need to shout and scream to be a good manager. Look at Arsene Wenger."
"The other thing is that Mark has the club at heart. He and his wife collected money for it when it was going under. He cares for Rotherham United."
Looking at the challenge ahead, Breck told the 'Tiser; "This is my spiritual football home and the prospect of working here excites me. It's a huge job possibly the biggest I have ever had in football but it doesn't frighten me. I have an abundance of experience at this level and I know what I'm walking in to."
"They say 'don't let your heart rule your head.' That may be true, but this is purely a professional decision. I wouldn't have come back if I didn't think we could make this thing work."
"I know all about the problems here but we have been dealt the cards we've got and now it's about how we deal them from hereon in. Realistically we have to get our house in order first, then stabilise and turn the tide."
"We have no crystal ball. Everyone wants success straight away but only so many teams can be successful. The club has to bottom out but it will turn. We need everyone on the front foot and thinking positive, from the chairman through to the supporters.
"We need the supporters behind us now but it's not so easy these days. There's so many other things for people to do in their leisure time."
"The only sure way to bring supporters in is winning. Pure and simple. If you've got three points come Saturday night, they will be happy."
