"It's been like doing a pre-season all over again. We've had the players working on the bikes, on the cross-trainers and everything just to get their cardio levels up but there's no substitute for matches.
"Until this week, the astroturf has been out of bounds for us at the training ground and when we went to find another pitch at Balby Carr last week, there was seven inch of snow on it.
"We need to get playing because we are ring rusty." Despite kicking their heels for so long, Rotherham still sit third in League Two having seen other sides spurn opportunities to overtake them.
"I still wish we were in Rochdale's position," admitted Moore. "They've played games and won them and points in the bag are better than games in hand. The good thing for us is that we have played four less than the team below us, Shrewsbury, and if we can win our matches in hand against Rochdale and Bournemouth then we will be in a great position."
Added Moore: "In the past some people have talked having a winter break but (even if you suspend the league programme) you're flogging a dead horse if you've no grass to train on."
