Keane told the Advertiser; "The people of Rotherham have been very good to me and I want to thank them. They spend hard-earned money to come to matches and I appreciate that. The supporters gave me a great reception when I came on as a substitute for the last home match of the season against Cheltenham. Considering I hadn't played regularly for four or five months, it was amazing, I threw my jersey into crowd at the end. That was the least I could do."
"I knew when we were relegated that I'd be earning too much money for the club next year, There are no hard feelings. That's football. I've had three offers already, including one from Ireland. I'm going to take my time making a decision for the next couple of months and then take it from there."he added.
Keane failed to rule out a return to Millmoor in the future, "Wherever I go, I wish Rotherham the best of luck. You never know, one day I might return as a player or even as a manager."
