"But I have to say it was never a 3-0 game, I thought there were two poor decisions - the penalty and then the foul on the far side that led to the second goal. So we went in 2-0 down at half time to make it difficult but I thought the players were fantastic in the second half. It could quite easily have been 2-2 as we had the better chances because we took the game to them.
"Then we were on the receiving end of a wonder strike to leave us 3-0 down but I think the players can take a lot of credit from the game. At two down it would have been easy for them to drop their heads but they didn't. They came out and went about things in the right way and we were unfortunate not to get back in the game.
"Last season was something of a dress rehearsal for this as we played really well then and were beaten 4-1. The first goal from a penalty was dubious and we conceded a free kick that shouldn't have been. When the ball came in we should have dealt with it but didn't so when you walk in at half time you know what you have to say. Huddersfield are probably one of the best teams in the league and if we laid down it could have been five or six.
"Credit to the players in the second half when they were excellent going forward and took the game to them. In that first 25 minutes it could have been 2-2 or 3-2 to us. I thought the referee was pretty lenient to their players and I asked him about the penalty but he said it was for pulling so there is nothing you can do about it. He was lenient with certain members of their team, I don't know how many times they were allowed to kick our players before he did anything about it.
"I had a word with him at half time and he said no problem but then the same player fouled again with his first tackle and there was nothing.
"When Lee Williamson came off he felt his groin again so it was a precaution as we want him for the full season, he also gets a bit tired as he missed most of the pre-season.
