Knill said "When Shaw comes on he's a great link player, he stands up to the centre half and he brings other players in,"
"I spoke to him and I don't think he's been too happy with his form but as soon as he stepped on the pitch I think you saw the real Paul Shaw there." He added.
Meanwhile Shaw has been speaking to the clubs official website where he described his game and confirmed that the ball hit his hand during the build up to his goal.
"It was an ideal start for me as I got the chance to come on and make an impression. With my first touch I received the ball from Jonno (Forte) and he did well to put me back in before I saw him unmarked in the box so I got it to him and he finished well. "
"It was a big boost for us going into half time two goals up and that's the first time we have achieved that this season. After those two goals
"When I scored there's no doubt the ball hit my hand but I was only a yard from their player who hit the ball but there was no intention to do so. I had nothing in my mind but to have a shot although I really took it a bit earlier than I wanted to do and thankfully it went in.
"We played some great football in the second half as we passed the ball about well with confidence as we enjoyed our football. After City scored there was always a fear that they might grab another but our defence did really well and Monty was excellent."
