League 1 update - Week 4
Port Vale also lost their 100% record. They travelled to Yeovil Town and lost their 100% start to a solitary goal from Terry in the 4th minute. Yeovil Town 9th, Port Vale 2nd.
Bradford City failed to take full advantage of the slips at the top as they were held at Valley Parade by Rotherham United. Hoskins gave the visitors the lead in the 31st minute, but a point was salvaged by Windass in the 75th minute. Bradford City 3rd, Rotherham United 24th.
Tranmere Rovers continue to make their presence felt with a 2-0 away win over Chesterfield at Saltergate. The first of their 2 goals came courtesy of the home side. Downes put the ball past his own keeper in the 44th minute. Taylor then secure the points with a strike in the 67th minute. Chesterfield 10th, Tranmere Rovers 4th.
Brentford let 3-points slip from their grasp at struggling Scunthorpe United. A Kuffour strike in the 38th minute was cancelled out by an own goal from Mousinho in the 68th minute! Scunthorpe United 22nd, Brentford 5th.
New boys Cheltenham Town battled away for their first win in their first League encounter with Millwall at Whaddon Road. The game started well enough with McCann converting a penalty in the 13th minute. After that Millwall hit back with a McInnes strike in the 23rd minute and a Williams goal on the stroke of half time. In between though, Millwall had their keeper, Pidgeley sent off in the 35th minute. After the break Odejayi levelled for the home side (66 mins), before Melligan secured the points for the home side in the 81st minute! Cheltenham Town 6th, Millwall 21st.
Swansea City travelled to the east end to face Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road, coming away with a single goal victory. The only goal of the game was scored by Knight in the 53rd minute. A short 11 minutes later Knight was sent off! Leyton Orient 13th, Swansea City 11th.
Brighton were well and truely thumped in their Sunday afternoon game at the Withdean against Crewe Alexandra! Cox gave the home side the advantage in the 39th minute, but Jones levelled in the 44th, and Lowe converted a penalty a minute later to ensure that the visitors went in at the break with the advantage. It didn't get much better after the break as a Maynard brace (55 and 84 mins) helped to secure Crewe's first win of the season! Brighton & Hove Albion 12th, Crewe Alexandra 15th.
Doncaster Rovers were made to pay for not taking chances when they were presented against AFC Bournemouth at Belle Vue! Guy had a simple tap in on the hour mark, but his goal was not enough as Hayter converted a 92nd minute penalty to ensure a share of the points. Doncaster Rovers 14th, AFC Bournemouth 16th.
Blackpool and Gillingham shared the points at Bloomfield Road with a goal each in the first half. The first went to the visitors through Ndumbu-Nsungu in the 2nd minute. The equaliser was scored by Vernon in the 34th minute. Blackpool 18th, Gillingham 20th.
In the only other game played this weekend (so far), Oldham Athletic (19th) and Carlisle United (8th) battled out a 0-0 at Boundary Park.
The remaining game to be played in League One is Northampton Town (17th) against struggling Bristol City (23rd) at Sixfields on Tuesday evening.
