It was well known around the club that McIntosh was distraught at the sacking of Ronnie Moore, the man who brought him to the club and he suffered under the regime of both Alan Knill and Mick Harford as he struggled to get in to the team and it was Harford that gave him license to find a new club this summer- despite having a year left to run on his Rotherham contract.

"Rotherham were good to me in that they said if I could sort out a deal elsewhere, I could leave on a free, and when Peter Jackson made contact, I was delighted."
If pre season betting is anything to go by a move to Huddersfield will see the 34 year old make a change from his annual relegation battle with The Millers to a promotion challenge under Peter Jackson and it's something that McIntosh is looking forward to.
"We should really be in a higher division, but it's no good talking about it. We have to go out there and prove we're worth a place in the Championship. Hopefully I'll be able to settle in quickly, make my mark and get a spot in the side, because I think with my experience, I can help make the young players even better."
