“Middlesbrough are the first team this season who will pro- vide a benchmark for us, They've spent a lot of money, have players on high wages, and in their opinion, they've got a good chance of going back to the Premier League this year." Evans said.
“I went to watch Boro at Brighton the other week and they won 2-1 with a late goal. When we came back I said to the chairman that they're nailed on to get into the play-offs, whether it's the top two I'm not sure. I'm confident enough to say that after just 14 games."
“Come five o' clock on Saturday, we'll know where we are in terms of whether we have the players to take us towards the play-offs. I'll find out how far away we are. But I would never rule that out. This club is capable of anything. The chairman wants us to win, the players do, I do, the supporters do. We have a real togetherness now."
“We know how tough a task it will be but I'll have a lot more knowledge about my squad after the game. I want to see how they perform and compete against a side like this. I've spoken to a couple of managers and they've said that Boro are as good as they've seen, so it will be a good indicator of just exactly how good we are.” he added.
