After the sale of Adam Le Fondre for a reported £500,000 plus add ons and the arrival of loanee Brett Williams until January, Scott spoke to the Star saying he's still positive about potential inward movement.
“The task of replacing Alf is not easy but we’ve made great strides and hopefully we’ll have someone in place by the deadline (11pm Wednesday),” said the Millers manager, refusing to name any particular player.
“We are not going to be exploited or abused because we’ve got some money because we are a League Two club, we have a wage structure and the player has to fit in with the rest of the squad and also complement it - we’d been working hard so that if Alf went then we were in a position to move".
Of 23 year-old Williams, who moved to the Royals from Blue Square South outfit Eastleigh last season, Scotty added: “They like him down there but obviously he’s untried and this will be an opportunity for him to be involved in league football.
“I’ve seen him play. He’s a good size, quick, strong and I’m sure he’ll take to League Two. He’s by no means a replacement for Alf but will give us a bit more physical presence if needed.”
