Millers move is progression for me - Mullins

The 25-year-old, who misses tomorrow's opener with Lincoln through injury, captained relegated Stockport last season as the stand out player and spoke to the Tiser about moving forward with his ambitions.

"It is a definite progression for me. I looked at Rotherham and where they were angling to go and I wanted to be part of it. One of my main things was to be at a club that was secure and was going in the right direction.

"At Stockport last year it was difficult and it ended in relegation but I know I'm here at a secure club and I can concentrate on my football. I hope we can push up and get into the higher league."

He added: "To be fair, all the facilities we have been using have been good and when all the lads are together it's not something we let bother us.

"The pitch at Don Valley is nice and I've been told it's a lot better than it was last season. Irrespective of all that stuff off the pitch, it's on the pitch on a Saturday and a Tuesday that we're interested in and we strongly believe we have a real good chance and we want to make it happen.

"Of course I've been disappointed I've not been able to do as much training as I would have liked but the lads have been brilliant and we are just champing at the bit to get going now.

"We want to be at the top end of the table, in fact we want to be at the top of the table, and that pressure only brings competition which should bring the best out of us. I think it will."
