Staff have been temporary laid off at both NYS and the training ground, a statement on themillers.co.uk said;
With all football fixtures suspended until at least April 30th and following the announcements from the Government this week, Rotherham United can confirm that the club has taken the decision to shut down its day-to-day operations at AESSEAL New York Stadium and Roundwood Sports Complex.
Our priority is, and always has been, ensuring the continued health and well-being of our supporters, players, club staff and indeed the general public, and it is with the aforementioned at the forefront of our minds that we have taken this decision.
Like a number of clubs in the EFL, Rotherham United have taken the decision to utilise the Government’s support system to furlough a number of staff during the absence of football.
We all want to see the safe return of football, but our priority must first and foremost be ensuring the health of everyone as we look to battle the outbreak of COVID-19.
