Millers release Montgomery

Last updated : 08 May 2007 By Millersmad Staff
Montgomery signed for the club in the summer of 2003 following his release from Coventry and was an understudy for then number one Mike Pollitt. The
Midlands born man made his debut in November of that year following a red card for Pollitt and his finest moment came in the epic league cup clash at Arsenal where he came on and produced some stunning saves including a penalty save from Sylvain Wiltord.

Following Pollitt's departure in 2005, Montgomery was again overlooked for the number one spot when Mick Harford signed Neil Cutler but indifferent displays from Cutler allowed Montgomery back in. However, after a string a error strewn performances, Cutler regained his place and has held the position since. Montgomery made just 38 starts for the club with just five coming this season and Mark Robins has decided not to offer him a new contract.
