This was boss Ronnie Moore's first chance to look at his second string in full and they impressed from the off.

Despite going a goal down against the run of play courtesy of Adam Spear's 13th minute goal, the Millers battled back with Brogan pulling the strings as he crossed for Ryan Taylor to level on 27 minutes.

Brogan again produced the assist as he teed up Micky Cummins who finished from six yards on 55 minutes and Paul Warne fired in Jason Taylor's pass to make it three just after the hour.

Brogan got on the scoresheet himself with 13 minutes left, cutting in to curl home a 20 yard right foot shot before the Magpies pulled a goal back six minutes from time.
