Millers run out winners in Hartlepool test

A pretty low crowd watched from the surronuding stands as Chris O'Grady's penalty and a Derek Holmes header from Peter Holmes left wing free kick put Rotherham two up at the break, before Gary Liddle hit back for 'Pools in the second period.

Manager Robins explained he thought the final first team pre-season game was another useful test.

Speaking to www.themillers.co.uk he said: "I thought they tested us. They are a very decent passing side and we seemed to handle that very well. Ritchie Barker was a big threat for us. Today was more of a training session for us to see how we can push ourselves for the season.

"I would have liked to have seen us explore the more forward role, but we have worked hard this week with a mid week game against Sheffield United. But now we will just look forward to the game next week against Hereford. I'm pleased with our performance because the away side gave us a game."

Robbo also explained the squad is in a clean bill of health other than Mark Hudson's injury against Sheffield United on Tuesday night and added: "Hudson's injury is such a blow to us and to himself. His cruciate is still intact. So depending on whether the hospital find the full extent of the injury we will have to wait and see. He is having an early morning operation on Thursday and we will wait to see the results to find out whether he will be out for 6 weeks or 16 weeks."
