Rotherham United are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the club's involvement in the first ever League Cup final, by organising a reunion of the players involved at the next home league game.

It is almost 50 years since the Millers took on Aston Villa in the inaugural competition, in which the Millers won the first leg, staged at Mllmoor 2-0, but were narrowly beaten 3-2 on aggregate following a 3-0 defeat at Villa Park.

The club are to host the cup finalists in the VIP Lounge at Don Valley stadium on Saturday when the current Millers first team take on Barnet. Goal hero from the first leg Barry Webster is one of eight surviving players who will be in attendance. Also confirmed are Roy Lambert, Keith Bambridge, Ken Houghton, Roy Ironside, Peter Madden and Brian Sawyer.

The players will be paraded in front of the Don Valley crowd at half-time whilst the club will also be producing a special commemorative programme where the original will be re-printed inside the current Millers matchday publication.
