The Millers will make changes for their New Year's Day clash with Coventry.
Veteran defender Claude Davis received a red card for kicking out at Tom Pope in Sunday's defeat at Port Vale and manager Steve Evans decided not to appeal the decision.
Davis starts a 3 match suspension and influential midfielder Ben Pringle is also absent after collecting 5 yellow cards.
Midfielder Lee Frecklington will hope to return after he pulled out 10 minutes before kick-off at Vale Park with illness, while Mark Bradley and Rob Milsom have served one-match bans and will return.
Several other members of the squad, including skipper Craig Morgan, have been battling on through the same illness that downed Frecklington but Evans will hope they are well enough for selection.
There has been some good news though with the loan extension of Newcastle pair James Tavernier and Haris Vuckic.
Coventry are sweating over the availability of centre-back Jordan Clarke ahead of the trip.
Clarke has missed City's last two games with an ankle injury while Danny Seaborne starts a three-game ban and is also missing.
Defender Jordan Willis has returned to the bench over the festive period having recovered from a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a knee injury, however, midfielder John Fleck is a doubt with a minor hamstring problem.
This is Coventry's first visit to Rotherham in 9 years, when they won a New Years Day fixture 2-1 at Millmoor.
