This is not a situation we are happy about but there is little that can be done to avoid it, it must happen at some point. It is better to bite the bullet now rather than letting things be delayed further.
With Euro 2004 occupying the middle of the close season the opportunity to make the switch over at a quiet time was lost. We have had to wait on the new host getting resource and space in place for us and to find a time when our IT team could all focus on this one big task.
This is a short term change which in the long term will be an overall gain because the new hosting site is infinitely more sophisticated than the existing office infrastructure and offers much greater resilience against power or network interruptions.
I apologise for the downtime, but it will be worth it.
