"I'm still champing at the bit to play. I had a meeting with Mark Robins a couple of weeks ago and basically told him not to write me off this season.
"I've worked all year to get a couple of first-team appearances in because it would do so much for my frame of mind going into summer knowing I've played a game and for the fans to know I'm back. That's what I'm all about. Just being back in the squad would be great.
"Obviously it's the manager's decision if I'm involved but just to let him know I'm available and fit for selection would be good. It's his decision whether he wants to pick me but I don't see a reason why he shouldn't. You want to get your best player back in!" he laughed.
"I've missed being involved on a matchday. Don't get me wrong, I haven't been put to the side but you still don't feel part of the team.
"Just watching games is an absolute nightmare. Obviously I like Rotherham United and I'm a Rotherham lad, but being a spectator is horrible. If it was up to me I wouldn't even go and watch.
"Getting back this season would be great for me, my family and friends. They've all been rooting for me and I want to do something just for them because I know it would make them proud to see me run out on that field.
"It would also be an achievement in itself. My recovery has taken longer than anticipated initially. There have been a lot of complications and things haven't gone quite as I planned.
"The good thing is that all the postponements have been good for me really because there are still eight games left. Two, three or four appearances would be great and then next season will be the big one.
"I'll work as hard as I can this summer so I'm as fit as everyone else. I want to hit the ground running."
