The 28 year-old was dropped for the match at Bristol Rovers after the arrival of Jon Harley on loan from Notts County last week, after being an ever present so far this season.
But boss Scott told the Star he believes the left back can still regain his starting spot, despite Harley's arrival to challenge for his place.
“Tom has done well, he is fantastic in training and in and around the place and he was disappointed he did not play at Bristol,” said Scott.
“He is honest enough with himself to know that he has not performed at the levels he was doing at the beginning of the season.
"It doesn’t mean to say he can’t get back there. A couple of games out of the side might give him the opportunity to regain his form.”
